Transformative Experience

People seek out coaches in order to embrace the transformative experience.  In mirror like fashion, coaches allow those seeking to find what that something within and attempt to bring it out.  Everything that we could ever want or ever want to know, we already have and know…deep within.  Universal consciousness, the akashic records, the collective unconscious.  Whatever school you study, each teaches that the kingdom of heaven is within.  So the questions become, how do we arrive to the kingdom of heaven?  What is the key for unlocking the collective unconscious?  Where can I find the akashic records?  How can I tap into the universal consciousness?  A transformation life coach can help with these questions.  Coaches help you find your path to the answers you hold within. Modern day coaches act as Virgil (and then Beatrice) did with Dante in the Divine Comedy.  Coaches act as the candle to lighten the dark corners within where the answers lie.  We help you dust off the road map to highlight the path that leads to the answers.  And there are as many paths as there are people and each path leads to the transformative experience.

A transformative experience is when a subtle change happens from within that changes a habit or pattern that you practice externally.  It is when something just clicks and resonates with who you are internally so much, that your outer behavior is automatically changed.  The transformative experience serves as a stepping stone to discovering your authentic self, one where your thoughts, words and actions are completely aligned to your highest purpose. These experiences come in many forms, such as in dreams, or in fleeting thoughts, in hearing or reading words of wisdom, in changes to the diet, in meditation or yoga, or in discipline.

Occasionally transformative experiences happen naturally without any preparation or desire, but mostly they come through intention. There are 3 steps to intentional transformative change.

  1. The first step is in knowing that you want to change, improve, elevate in some way.

  2. The second step is knowing what you want to change.

  3. The third step is taking the well planned path to make the change.

You must desire to change on your own and then a coach can help you discover what you want to change and how to do it.

I lived in Bangkok as an English teacher for 5 years after finishing my communications degree from Central Michigan University.  My time in Bangkok was spent searching.  Searching for meaning, searching for purpose, and searching for my authentic self.  My family didn’t understand why I went so far away and I couldn’t articulate the exact reasons until later in life. The truth is that I wasn’t sure why I decided to go to Bangkok.  I was following my intuition. While I made numerous friends right away, I still spent much of my time alone.  This alone time allowed me to focus my attention inward.  Without pressure or suggestions from family, friends, or teachers, I asked myself questions like, “What brings me joy?” and “What are my deepest desires?”  and “What are my crippling fears?”  I read, I wrote, and I thought.  Then I unexpectedly met someone who was on the same journey as I was.  After an initial repulsion, we quickly became inseparable.  We discussed these aforementioned questions and broke down the universe and semantics until we found ourselves in blissful acceptance of who we were and what we wanted.  There was something magical about these conversations.  Speaking from the heart knowing that we wouldn’t be judged ignited the necessary spark for any transformative experience.  We were able to completely ground ourselves in the present and set real life goals to work toward. And 20 plus years later, we have stayed the path, followed our hearts, and accomplished many of the lofty goals we had talked about during those brutally hot Bangkok afternoons.  The transformation was unlocked through conversation.  And today, this is how I serve my clients.

Sometimes transformative experiences happen just from putting yourself in the right place at the right time.  I have a great friend from university who found himself in a bit of a rut after university.  Through our correspondence (which were hand written letters in those days), he explained his yearn to get out of his rut, so he came to visit me in Thailand. This was his first time out of the country.  As he was arriving, one of my female friends invited us to visit her and her sister down on one of the islands in the Andaman Sea.  Through some hectic travel and necessary pivots, we finally arrived at the islands.  My university friend met my female friend and they instantly fell in love.  After my friend went home, they kept in constant contact until he came back to visit again.  And now they have been  happily married for 25 years.  From his initial intention to break out of his rut, the universe provided an amazing transformation experience by introducing him to his life partner soul mate.  The first step for transformation comes from desiring change.

My goal in working with you is to guide you to look inward to see your highest passions and most desired desires. I can help you locate your shadow and instill confidence to stare your shadow in the eyes and gently embrace him/her.  We focus on the goals that you want to achieve and find the internal obstacles that have been placed there from previous experiences.  Once you can see and recognize the obstacle, with gentle love and self compassion, the obstacle slowly transforms into an opportunity.  The transformative experience is when your internal and external obstacles become opportunities. As a coach, I help you discover, clarify, and align yourself to your purpose.  It is your own personal journey and I am here to help you find your path and make sure you continue traveling in the right direction.
